Sitting postures dimensions are important in designing, mainly while we are designing chair. Proper dimension of furniture according to the human dimension will reduce ergonomics risk.

Sitting Postures:

Sitting Height:

The subject sits erect, look straight ahead with his knees and ankles forming right angles. Sitting height is the vertical distance from sitting surface to the top of the head.

Sitting height is important for designing backrest of chair. If backrest of your chair is not according to the sitting height than to use that chair is not comfortable for user.
Eye Height:

This is the distance between the sitting surface and the inner corner of the eye.

Shoulder Height:

Buttock Leg Length:

This is the horizontal distance from the outer surface of buttocks to the base of the heel while subject sits erect with his legs as forward as possible on a horizontal surface.

Buttock length is important for designing a Indian sitting, gym area, yoga space, etc. in house. Width of Indian sitting should be according to the buttock leg length to make it user friendly.
Hip Breadth:

This is the maximum horizontal distance between hips. The subject sits erect with his knees and ankles right at angles and his knees and heels together.

Hip breadth is important to design a breadth of chair. Person will not feel comfortable if the breadth of chair sitting is not according to the hip breadth.
Shoulder to Shoulder Breadth:

Maximum horizontal distance across the external surface of biceps muscles is known as shoulder to shoulder breadth. The subjects sits erect with his upper arms touching his sides and his forearms extended horizontally.

The maximum horizontal distance across the outer surface of the elbows while subject sits erect with part of shoulder to elbow vertical and touching his sides and his forearms extended horizontally.

Fore Arm Hand Length:

The subject sits erect with his upper arm vertical at his side and his forearm, hand and fingers extended horizontally. The horizontal distance from the tip of the right elbow to the tip of middle finger.
