Ganesh Chaturthi is also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. It is celebrated all over the India especially in the Western India such as Maharashtra in the month of Bhadrapada (August to September). Ganesh Chaturthi is a ten day Hindu festival that is celebrated to honour the elephant-headed God Ganesha’s birthday. Lord Vinayaka/ Ganesha is the younger son of Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvati.

Establish Space For Lord Vinayaka!
Firstly it is very important to find the suitable space to establish idol of lord Ganesha. The northeast corner of the home is the most appropriate as it bring happiness. So keep it clean & peaceful. To purify it sprinkle the Ganga river water if possible in all corners and rooms of the home a day before the festival begins especially in the area where you are going to place the idol. Prepare a raised platform to put the idol & decorate the place well. There should also be enough space for people for the regular worship at aarti times in your home.

Clean Your Home:
To have the positive vibes around, discard all old items & give your home a thorough clean up. You can also sprinkle the Ganga water to attain the sense of purity to the place where you want to establish the Lord Vinayaka /Ganesha idol.
Decorate Your Wall:
Decorate the walls of your Pooja room or place where you want to put the Ganesha Idol with beautiful bright colours. You can decorate the walls by using the bright colour curtains, ribbons & balloons. You can also use sarees and dupattas to make curtains for your pooja room walls!
