Wood Flooring Types:
In general, there are three wood flooring types, which are given as follows:
01. Solid Wood Flooring:
Solid wood flooring planks are made from a piece of wood with a general thickness of 20 mm. Mostly, red oak, white oak, pine and maple, hickory, spruce are used for making solid hardwood boards. Solid wood flooring can be easily repaired by sanding several times over its lifetime. As it is made from natural wood, it is subjected to expansion and contraction in extreme temperatures.
02. Engineered Wood Flooring:
Engineered wood flooring is made with the core of plywood and a layer of solid wood attached on its top. It generally has a thickness of 8 mm to 15 mm. Engineered wood flooring can be used in areas like kitchen, as it is more dimensionally stable compared to solid wood flooring.It is most commonly used flooring as it costs less than solid hardwood and gives more attractive look than laminate wood flooring.
03. Laminate Wood Flooring:
Laminate wood flooring is obtained by placing a layer of a photographic image of wood over a fiberboard. A protective coating is done on the photographic image for resistance against wear and tear, and also for giving finish to the laminate wood flooring. As it is a synthetic product, it does not give look and feel of natural wood.
