A headboard is a piece of bed which is attached to the head of the bead. According to Gabrielle Di Stefano, (Author of the article – A Brief History of Headboards, published on houzz.com) headboards date back to Egyptian pharaohs, as an ornamental piece carved with gold and silver rather than being functional.  Sweating during the night is completely normal, and sweat and moisture will soak into your pillow, causing it to touch the wall. As a result, if you have a habit of lying with your head next to the wall, you are even more highly probable to smudge it. By protecting your wall with a headboard, you can keep your wall clean.

Headboards provide additional support, prevent wall damage, and elevate your bedroom decor. Nowadays, many headboards are more decorative than being functional. Headboards can be costly and take up valuable space, so you may be better off without one if you wash your bedding on a regular basis. But if you want a headboard for aesthetic purpose, then you have come to the right place. In this article, we give you a DIY painted headboard idea and guide you on how to paint a headboard on the wall.

Turn your bedroom into a scene from ‘A Thousand and One Nights’ by painting the walls a warm pink stone colour and painting a typically Moorish half circle headboard in deep ultramarine blue with a stamped tile surround. Enhance the Kasbah (fortress) atmosphere with metal lanterns, candles, urns and striped woven textiles. Do ensure that all the other colours in the room are rich and warm so that the effect is one of looking up at an inky blue Moroccan night sky. If this effect appeals to you, why not also paint a distant sickle moon and stars on the blue arch shape?
